What Helps Your Hands The Most?

I find if I practice too much, I tend to play like I've been practicing too much. (Does that make sense?)

As an alternative, I, like a lot of other guys, like to play upright for practice because it makes my facility of the electric feel better. But lately, I'm finding that playing fingerpicking on an acoustic guitar has really helped. Some hand exercises work well also.

What unorthodox method do you use besides standard practice on the instrument.

I've always had luck with those hand held grip/finger exercisers that you can find in music stores. I get the strongest one(I think it's only medium).

You might throw this over to technique.

I find jamming on my Dean Acoustic/Electric bass helps my hands with strength. The action is REALLY high (truss rod won't budge) and the neck is very long.

By the time I get on my P bass, my fingers are flying
