How exactly does p-nut play the intro to "What Was I Thinking" off Transister? I just can't really get it to sound right. This is how I play it

g----------------------x----7h9--------------
d-------------------x------------------------
a---------------------------------------------
e-0-0-x-0-x-0-0---------x------------------
b---------------------------------------------
t t t t t t t p p p p

for anyone who doesn't understand it t=thump
p=pop

After every open e is a left hand slap.
If L=Left hand slap
T=Right thumb muted slap
E=Right thumb hitting open E
P=Pop
The first part of the pattern is:
E-L-E-L-T-E-L-T-E-L 16th notes

and the tail end of the phrase is:
E-L-T-P-T-then pop-hammer on 7-9 on the g string
e-l-t-p are 16th note triplets and the last 3 notes t-7h9 are 16th notes again. My description is probably tough to understand in tab but I hope it helps. It made sense to me when I was typing it, lol.

P-Nut is one of my biggest influences. That slap groove is IDENTICAL to a slap groove I heard Mark King play on a live Level 42 cd. A friend of mine told me "Do you wanna see where P-nut got that slap riff on "what was I thinking"? He played it for me and I was stunned to see it was the exact same groove. I know P-nut has said that Mark King was a big influence on him so it made sense.

later bro
