It's old but the guy's really good+ he's/was(not sure) a teacher at BIT.

The Ed Friedland DVD is very good. It's well paced and covers all the basics.

+1

The best bass video I've ever purchased. The "Fingerstyle Funk" video from the same company (by Rocco Prestia) is a close second.

Well paced, good examples, great transcriptions & excellent production. I have the old VHS version, but I believe it's available on DVD now.

Get the SlapIt! book+CD. Its definitely the best thing I've seen yet to learn strong basics and develop your slapping.

I also highly recommend Ed Friedland's DVD-it's detailed, comes with tab. After that, try the funky chops cd-it's cheap and shows 100 slap grooves with each one shown slowly and in time.

Try this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBFKkiju5N0
It looks and sounds difficult, but just take a bit of time going through it, don't play exactly what he is, just try and copy some licks...it really is quite simple

I second the alexis video. I think it's a little better than the book as it's shows you multiple angles for right and left hand.

He was my private teacher at BIT for a while and a great teacher for the style.

Bit of a shameless plug here, but my book Ultimate Slap Bass is a great resource for slappers, beginners to advanced. It's had tons of great feedback and recieved compliments from many great players including Stu Hamm. Check it out at: www.basslinepublishing.com

Additionally, I'll add a vote for Alexis's video which is excellent. Victor's Super Bass Solo Technique video (if you can find it) is also very good at explaining what he does.

That dvd, as I have said before, is the boy. Great to run through for a workout, and it's good for everyone from your Flea fans to your full on, Mark King style thumb wizards!
