I have Long Hollow Leather straps on all of my basses.
I like'em and they're available at both music stores I frequent near home and work.

Very cool straps

Check these out. If you truly want something distinctive, these are awesome!

Look for the straps with Frog Leather, Fish Leather, Kangaroo Leather, SnakeSkin - how can you go wrong with that kind of mojo?

Levy's
I also have a Comfort Strapp that Adrian Garcia gave me when I was recovering from cancer surgery. It is one of my most cherished posessions.

I just got a Minotaur strap that's a Hendrix bass model for around $56 (handmade custom leather strap company in greece)
www.Minotaur.gr

Now I'm getting a another custom strap made at www.awestrumleather.com
they'll paint a decal for you on a 3" leather strap or any strap width if you want it.
They do good work atleast on thier website. I'm getting 'em to paint one of my bands (The Dead Pawns) logo on a strap. Custom straps there start at a cheap 50 bones.

I uset to use Levy's but, after awhile the leather straps called me and too many people have plain leather straps so I'm looking for unique ones.

I use a Levy's all black leather strap, like the one above, and a Comfort Strapp.

I wish I could get a leather Comfortt Strapp, I love the leather of my Levys but love the comfort of the Strapp is almost too good!

I use Moody Leather, but I only have one. They are pretty pricey but they are top quality.

If a strap is narrow it will twist, if it is thin, it will twist, so its not a good design. A good strap idealy needs to be wide(+ 4" or 100mm) or padded at the shoulder contact. leather seems to be the best and most sturdy material but it costs. The result of a good strap means you don't feel the bass that much, so it is transfering the weight factors good, and the bass holds position well.
I like the look of these and especially the Levi Ergonomic strap.

Don't remember the brand name, but I use a suede leather strap that I got from GC when I first got my bass. I think I paid $15 for it. It does the job real well, the suede leather interior keeps my bass in position with no slippage.

Just got one of the Mono GS1 straps. A lil' bit pricey, but it really feels worth it. It's well-made, padded, and very comfortable.

The cheapest 2" thing I can find in a solid color that I think matches the bass, no designs, or words. I don't like black either for some incoherent reason.
