What to practice "on the road"

Sign in to disble this ad
I travel some for my company; usually 2-3 days at a time, and fairly infrequently. Also, it will be nigh impossible to travel WITH the bass, so was hoping someone could give me ideas of what to practice while on the road.

I'll have a laptop, so ear training software, reading exercises or websites, finger exercises that don't require a guitar, etc. are all fair game.

You need one of those to put in your suitcase. John Coltrane used to have a section of broomstick that he attached bottlecaps and buttons to that corresponded to the keys on his saxophone that he would sit and quietly noodle with when he couldn't play (like on an airplane).

*LOL* Man, there's nothing they won't think of. That's clever; thanks. I'll consider that.

What about a little wider string spacing to simulate right hand movements? Any other products out there?

Oh, thanks for posting that.

Have a look at this thread. FS: Aria Sinsonido fretless travel bass
This is the Aria Sinsonido travel bass. I travel about 70% of the time. I just got one of these, it is a serious instrument at a reasonable price. I haven't had any problems getting in on to airplanes, it really fits in a relatively small package but still is a full scale bass (34"). Der Basskopf.

The obvious answer is a Steinberger Spirit XT. Those things are TINY.

I need to find a nice travel bass also. I do not travel that much, but when I do it is for extended times.
