Earth Wind and Fire is pretty fun to jam along with.

I've mostly been playing along to stuff that doesn't have bass already though, like classical guitarists.

Anything with James Brown is fun to play. Some of the bass lines from the JBs are catchy but simple. I would personally like to learn how to play everything on What's Going On note-for-note but that won't happen so...

I should be playing more country music, since that's what pays the bils 'round here.

Since I'm in a couple of cover bands, I tend to play along with all the songs in our set list. A lot of 60's rock for one band, more of a 80's-90's mix in the other.

I put all of songs on the setlists in a playlist on my IPod. Sometimes I just put it on shuffle and play to a random mix. Keeps me on my toes.

Sade - Greatest Hits

After reading the first couple chapters of Wooten's book, this CD just seemed like a perfect fit to the "groove" lesson.

Some Live Clapton CD I got from the library that had Carl Radle was good to jam with for a while. A local DJ over in Long Island does a funk/soul show for three hours every Friday. Great stuff.

Pretty much any record by The Mars Volta, but especially De-loused in the Comatorium. That album has really fun bass parts.

Tower of Power, originals for one of my bands, and various other stuff.
ToP is the unifying force, though.

Thats what I'm doing at the moment - tapping out that masterfull album.

Give it a go, it's not as hard as it seems once you get started.

Love jamming to nuyorcan soul records - Louis Bennedetti, Masters at work etc etc.
Standing in the shadows of motown gives me endless play along fun too!

I jam along to the radio as well - Put on Gilles Peterson or BenjiB's latest shows for 2 hours of quality music in varying styles.

when i just feel like relaxing for awhile, i'll usually play along with 60'-70's stuff. Mostly Beatles, Cream, Joplin, Blood Sweat & Tears, and pre-79 Chicago.
