Can somebody tell what scale he is using? It looks like a mixolydian, or some form of a major scale. Anyone?

Ah, the famous "Jam in E". He starts of in a E major, but he doesn't really follow any scales, he constantly works his way around them. The best thing you can do is to listen to the tune and try to work it out. I have the original DVD, and there comes a notesheet along with it, but the notation to that specific tune is wrong. Great groove, I love to play it - it's a real showoff as well

Yeah it is a mix of differents things: he starts with an E mixo scale with couples of jazzy lines with passing tones then he shift into E minor pentatonic (the fast run).

It is kind of a E blues so you can mix E mixo, E min pent., E Maj pent.,E maj blues scale and E min blues scale all together.
