Right now I'm happy if I can walk through a couple of changes and hit the root in time. This "finding the proper approach notes quickly while avoiding playing the same thing over and over" deal is killing me. |

That you can't inject a little levity into a conversation on here without someone taking it like you did. But at least you said it was entertaining, so that counts for something.
Of course I have faults. I consider myself a really good player but I am far from perfect, and I've got plenty of room to improve. And the one fault I have (and when it gets right down to it, it's the fault that everyone on here who's listing their faults has) is that I don't practice enough. Every single fault listed on here can be cured with more practice. You don't like something about your playing? Work on it until it's fixed. |

One really bad habit I'd like to get rid of is that I often find myself keeping intermittent time with my right forearm while playing, sort of doing little virtual snare hits. That probably came from practicing without a metronome back in the day, and it's a bitch to unlearn. I can tap my foot instead if I put my mind to it, but it doesn't come naturally yet.

| | | | I'd say My faults are that I bite off more than I can chew sometimes, and I could work on my discipline some more. Also, I would say that I am generally unfocused with what I want to do musically. One minute I'll be making a jungle drum and bass tune and the next I'll be making an R&B tune. The last one isn't necessarily a fault or flaw, but, from a commercial standpoint, that can be a problem. Seeing as how I want to eventually sell my music, it would be in my best interest to focus a little bit more.
I have playing problems here and there, sure, but, really, I'm pretty satisfied with my playing abilities. I'm always exploring new ****, but on the whole, I am content with what ground I have covered.

What's so bad about playing the same thing over and over? Maybe it's my rock/pop/funk background talking here, but I've always believed that if you can find something that works, stick with it. But now that I'm getting more into jazz, I sort of understand the logic of not repeating yourself, but if you come up with an unstoppable riff, why not use it a few times in a song? |

| | | | Tapping. I can tap out some retarded arpeggios that have no real musical value and fake my way through Jerry Was a Race Car Driver (which I think is getting up there with Higher Ground as far as overplayed Guitar Center demo songs go), but that's about it. I don't really care much for the sound and style of it, so I guess that's why I've never bothered to improve in that area. |
