whats the difference between Raking and sweeping

Hey guys
I have been tryin to sweep a lot but i cant seem to be getting any better so any suggestions to the basics.
also i want to know the difference between raking and sweeping.

When you sweep you only hold down one finger at a time (on your left hand)

I always associate sweeping with hammer-ons, and offs. When I think of raking, I imagine one held chord or position. Though, they are basically the same technique, as far as the right hand is concerned.
