That's good advice, it's a good technique until you get used to it. Are you normally a pick player? I've been playing 25 years and just started using a pick (for one song anyway) I do like the tone.

No that is not the floating thumb. The floating thumb is where your thumb is not anchored or touching anything. Jerry Scheff is a good example to watch of the foating thumb as he usd that alot.

Yes, I am normally a pick player. I do like to use my fingers every once and a while though.
