When playing bass with the right hand assuming your doing finger style.. i just realized when i play a string i dont strike through and rest it on the string below it... I noticed that is causing most of my unwanted string buzz issues..and muting issues...

can someone explain right hand techinque to me? should i be plucking the string then having it rest on the string below it?? i hope im explaining this well does anyone know what im referring to thanks!!

I rest my thumb on the E string and alternate with my index and middle fingers (some guys use their ring and pinky fingers too). After playing a note definitely rest your finger on the sting below in order to mute it from ringing. Check out the May 2009 issue of Bass Player Magazine for a nice exercise on alternating your fingers by Adam Nitti. I think it's viewable at their web site too.
