... to jam with? Ideally different styles, just to get some grooves going. I can't be bothered to program my own...

Pc Drummer.

Simple, cheap ( if you decide to buy when trial period is up), and a wide variety of pre made drum loops, that you can put in any order you want.

i got a couple of freeware midi drum track programs...
one is a funky beat-box thing called "Hammerhead"
that can generate .wav files (easily converted to .mp3)

I've imported these tracks successfully into Cubase LE as a drum track...

pretty cool for what you pay for...

Some options:

- The cheapest way to find drum loops is definitely to do a search on Google. There are TONS of web sites that offer them for free.

- Buy a drum loops sample cd.

- You could also use a plug-in like Spectrasonics Stylus RMX that includes a large variety of drum loops in various styles. It's basically a very large sample library bundled in a plug-in that lets you play them at any BPM, lets you re-arrange them in any way you like and so on...

- The Free Sounds Project is another nice option. Loads of various samples, including drum loops that you can use under the Creative Commons license.
