In an ideal world, mine would be hanging down by my knees, but now it's just a bit below belt buckle.

Hanging (or standing) level is the same as "sitting" position.

A bit below my belt buckle. I chose below my crotch, though.

Mine hangs pretty low but that just comes with the territory of being a big guy.

A little lower than Shehan.. from what I have seen.. the bridge is just about at the belt line.. or a little above or below.. depending on whether I am using my thumb or fingers..

Just over the belt buckle with my fours, mostly my ric since hte uber cool strap only adjusts that high and no one wants to look like one of those jazz dorks with a jetglo ric. However when I am playing my 6 or 7 strings and being a dork (Which is most of the time) I go for the stanley area. I like it so be adjusted so that when I sit down and atand up it is in the same spot give or take.

For as long as I can remember I've been adjusting my strap length by sitting down on a stool, allowing my bass to rest comfortably on my thigh/knee, then snugging the strap into that position. What this does is put the bass as close to the same position sitting or standing as possible.
I looked at photos of Enwhistle, I'm guessing that's close but I think it could be a smidgeon lower, like this:

+1. Same logic that I use. Maybe I'm showing signs of my age, but a 3-hour gig can seem awfully long without a stool and a leg to help support a heavy bass.

My basses always end up buckle-rashtacular.
Unless I remember to center the buckle of my belt on my left hip rather than above my crotch like normal.
Usually try to make a note to remember to do that for long practices or intense shows.
I obviously chose "right over your belt buckle".
