Every technique and sound has its place depending on the situation, what you hear and what fits the music.

I'm assuming this is a parody thread! I must say though, this seems to be the only technique that seems to get it's own negative laden thread every 3 months or so! Honestly, I hope the mods start attacking these type of threads. If I was a mod, the minute I saw it............buh bye!

For the haters.............Slap is a legitimate technique the same as fingerstyle, pick, tapping, chording, double-thumping, etc. Get frikkin' over it already! No more slap threads please!

I'm an anti-slapper and have to agree with you- it's a valid technique and it works for lots of folks. I just don't like it for my playing. I am amazed how close minded some folks on here are, and not just in regards to slap... the anti-Fender threads, the anti-Fender clone threads, etc.

Count me amongst the narrow minded and obtuse then.

I hate it although not always. It has its time and place.

That time and place is only whenever and wherever either Larry Graham or Mike Watt decide it's appropriate. Everyone else should just stop. Slapping by anybody other than the aforementioned exceptions makes Baby Jesus cry.

Could you please try to be more sacrilegous and close-minded?

If I had a dog right now I would name him BINGO. I just saw the hater/lover threads and thought I would take the "middle path"

I agree. I would actually include the "picks vs. finger" thing under the banner of "this type of thread" too I'm actually surprised that this hasn't been closed yet. I wasn't really being subtle or anything lol

Hehe, I actually don't do the slap thing for 1 reason.

Which is really funny IMO.

In order to slap (at least half decently) I have to raise my bass up from ball height, and that's not gonna happen
