I was watching my Cliff 'Em All dvd today, and i realized that cliff slaps the string with his hand during most of the song.. I can't do this properly.. Also, what fret does he slap? is it a power chord? Any advice on how to do this would be great.

Most of the bass in that song is either open E, F#, G, A, and B. That's it. The slap thing is just him hitting the string really hard with his thumb. Nothing special.
