Will Playing Viola help Me?

Hi i am beginning to play bass and i also hve been playing The viola for quite some time now and i wanted to know if playing the viola will help me as a bass player or only slow me down?

I don't see how it would be to your disadvantage.

IIRC, Viola's are tuned differently than a bass. But, i'm sure the viola technique will be to your advantage! especially on fretless!

I take it your not a self taught Viola player so he music theory certainly can't hurt.

i played viola for 9 years while i played bass. i dont play anymore but any sort of musical background helps.
