Will someone please clear up my Slapping confusion.

Ive been playing bass for about 1 year..

I learned to slap by having my thumb pointing down and bouncing off the strings... Basically like flea does

But now i want to learn double thumping...

So here is my question...

Obviously to double thump i have to have my thumb parallel and i have to strike down and through the string at an angle not perpendicular

If i start slapping with my thumb parallel and strike through the strings is there even any reason to practice just bouncing off the string? Also i have like no room to pop at all....

It is very difficult to re-learn slapping with that different thumb position.

I wonder if im better off just slapping and popping the way i have been or just be patience and relearn

Patience is a virtue, Danial son. I couldnt do it til about 3 weeks ago, and I have been playing for 3 years. Again, I was patient. Also, do some research. MarloweDK, and the man himself Vic have videos up on DT. Watch them, they helped me.

My best tip, dont force it! I tried to force it, but it made it worse. One day, it just kinda came to me. Now practice kicks in.
