I've been playin bass for awhile now and relize that I play differently from everyone else. I play using my thumb as a pick I guess you could say. Should I learn the normal way or continue my path?

Heck, Victor Wooten made a career out of it, and "thumbing" (though mostly downstrokes only) is the way of the early days of the slab and gives you and instant vintage/oldie sound.

Also good for reggae and the like, when muted.

So you're good, but it won't hurt to learn to walk (2-finger alternate picking - the standard for most).

Sting does it, too, and also a pretty female bassist I know.

Nothing wrong with that, but maybe you should learn other techniques as well... More tools in the tool box!
