Maybe to supplement your daily iron intake?

A thin film of Gorilla glue on your fingers is slick as 10 and really works. Well dried of course. You will pump out 16ths like Prestia or Entwistle without even trying. If this sounds wierd, repeatedly licking my fingers or picking my nose sounds worse.

You know, I've also seen quarterbacks do that.

Now... think of how nasty a football gets over the course of a game... and also think where most QBs put their hands at the start of every play that isn't in a shotgun formation.

Gross.

Yep. I do it all the time. Works great. And you're right, it does cut down on string life. But I play so hard my strings last a few weeks at most anyway. If I get 5 shows out of a set it's a miracle.

It was chicken grease last night, munching on the side while playing. But, actually, I don't want anything at all on my fingers when playing. Don't need it. Nor do I use any kind of string lube.

Is it to cool them down, like a tennis player blowing on his fingers? Wouldn't wanna lick 'em though.

I use the nose grease method between songs. Works well for me.

No, and that’s weird.

When I was still playing roundwounds, my fingertips would get so dry that I had to dip them in a glass of water occasionally.

So I don't think it's any weirder than nose grease, which I personally find disgustimg lol.

Nose grease is NOT picking your nose, it comes from the outside of your nose skin, not inside the nostrils.

I don't like glue too much, although if I have a blister, separated finger nail, or hangnail I will use super glue to close up the wound and play. I don't like it though. I also really disliked Finger Ease when I tried it a number of years ago, but just goes to show different stroke for different folks. If it's good to you, it's good for you! Always go with whatever works (for you).

Alfonso did it.

I watched Alfonso Johnson do this all night in concert when he played with Weather Report. Good job he didn't run out of saliva because he sounded great.

IDK... I saw John Deacon do it in concert for the "News of the World" tour way back when. I tried it - briefly. No idea behind that one.

Nose grease rocks!! If I ever find my picking fingers getting to grabby on the strings I rub them on my nose. It works great. I got that tip from a book about Jaco Pastorius that I read many years ago. He was also fond of eating greasey chicken with his fingers before playing.
