I like A minor a lot (I think that theres a lazy pianist inside me somewhere).

I play a lot in DADA lately though and it really lends itself to D minor.

Em, that way i can hit low E, low D, low C AND low B.

dont i just love shaking sh*t!

it also lets me make use of an open G and high C strings.

but B and F# are also a lot of fun.

i hate D because i cant sing in it.

for forcing me to focus: Bb - but only cause Ab is less common.

I think B major (or minor) are pretty nice -- I like having the 4th and 5th degrees of the scale beneath the tonic (the "B" at the second fret of the A). You can do that little run from E through F# through A back up to B that always gets my J-Bass to growl nicely.

For me it really depends on what I'm doing. For jazz I like Bb or F, just really comfy for me. For rock or funk its probably A or E, but I do like playing funk stuff in C also.

Yeah, that's interesting. Dm is dark and sad. Yet, go up a full step to Em and it sounds dark and powerful.

D, great for both major and minor. Shared second place go to G major and A minor. The jumbo place go without doubt to Eb, unless the bass is tuned down half a step.

If I am going to just jam and mess around, A minor almost always. As far as sound goes though, I like B minor or F# minor.
