*OFF MARKET* 1890 Lamy Bass [ French ] *PRICE DROP*

1890 French Lamy Bass for sale 35,000.00 30,000.00 26,500.00 $23,000.00

This bass is fully loaded with nothing wrong!! It has gotten the best treatment by Jed Kreigal and has had everything checked and or upgraded. The Lamy bass has a re-graduated top and a new neck graft.. The bass is in nearly perfect conditions and the varnish is all original. This bass sounds great for jazz and classical music! I have had the honor to play this bass with Wynton Marsalis and also the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orch.

These french basses are gaining lots and lots of equity and their prices will only go up and up.. I am selling this beautiful bass in order to upgrade myself to something much higher...

The bass is a 42 inch string length and the neck is close to a D neck.

I will leave you a youtube clip of me playing this bass on the tonight show with Letterman so that you can hear what this bass sounds like... un amped!!!!!!!!!!

Jerome Thibouville-Lamy
and a little story:

Thibouville-Lamy, Jerome. A little
before 1867 he became sole proprietor
of the various factories at Mirecourt ;
he gradually substituted mechanical
for manual labour, and while increasing
the number of instruments made, at
the same time reduced their price, so
that at last he was able to exhibit at
Vienna, in 1873, his famous violins at
4s., 8s., and 6s. each. By 1887, 35,000
instruments had been made by his
firm. He was awarded a medal, Viti-na,
1873 ; medal of honour, Santiago, 1875 ;
prize medal, Philadelphia, 1876 ; and
gold medal, London, 1885. He was
made Chevalier of the Legion of
Honour, April 10, 1877, and Officier,
Jan, 15, 1892.

Lamy had many makers working for him and so therefore, the quality of the instruments greatly varies....
35 K for a Lamy is quite on the upper side, but as with any bass with some sort of pedigree, its the sound and condition that matters, good luck for the sale.

Nuno, thank you so much for this info As for the price, I have done everything possible to this bass and has been made perfectly right for playability in jazz and Classical music. The top has been re-graduated because most of these French tops are thick [14mm ] in some spots
The sound is great and loud with lots of depth and character which allows the players to become their own sound.. This bass will be one in the books for being a boomer and projector on stage))) Thank you again Nuno

Maybe <30k ?
Otherwise, the Lamy c.1890 here might be a better deal.

Waltwallace, thats a better price def I might bring it down after this post to 30k!!

That Lamy bass you are referring to is going for 19k [ Great price ] however, it has not had any work done to it The top is thick as can be and the neck stance is not correct for Classical nor Jazz [ metal strings] Theirs your extra 7-8k that will be invested into that Lamy once you buy it

Thank you for looking out))

This one is a killing French Bass!!! The only reason why I'm selling is because I want to upgrade))) This is killing Jazz and Classical bass!!!

I've been happy using it with Wynton Marsalis plus the JALC..

Let me know if you have any questions

Unfortunately, a bass going fast in this economy is relatively unheard of :/. If anything, I'm sure this bass would be the first to go in ideal conditions.
