*OFF MARKET* Early 20th Century German Shop Bass $4000

Nice clear, well-defined tone. Cracks are all solidly repaired. Neck has been bolt-repaired. Shim has been added to increase fingerboard angle. Bumpers added. Ebony fingerboard.

String length 41.5"
Shoulder to bottom 43"
Shoulder width 20.25"
Ribs 8"
Bottom width 24.25"

I've been very happy with this bass. I'm just on the road too much these days and not playing it. Bass is in Moscow, ID which is a lovely place to visit this time of year! I'd prefer to not ship it, but might be willing to meet you somewhere in the Pacific NW region.

Side views...

The crack on the side isn't pretty, but it's held solid since it was repaired (the crack was open when I bought the bass 2 years ago). The other cracks were repaired in the 70's and are still solid (I've got the invoice from the repair shop and diagram of the repairs done). The neck repair was performed then.

Repairs/improvements two years ago done by Maureen Pandos in Portland, OR (MDP Bass Works) including shim under fingerboard, crack on side, new bridge, fingerboard dressing, new endpin, new tailpiece and cord.

I don't think I've used this bass on any recordings. Unless my memory serves me wrong. I'll post something if I come up with it.

Recording

Here's a little sound clip of this bass. It's from an audition that required playing a transcription. It was recorded on an Edirol device...

I've been playing this bass more lately and have decided to keep it. Thread closed...
