*SOLD* BSX Allegro 5 String Electric Upright Bass w/Velvet Animas *PRICE DROP*

This has been the most rewarding EUB portion of my complicated URB journey. Played for 4 years or so on a gut-strung Kay upright in mostly acoustic trios/quartets, but then after being financially wiped out AND having my bass break, I put down the upright as a serious tool in my arsenal for another 3 or 4 years.

In that time I compromised a few times by getting into EUBs, most notably the Ergo and Eminence EUBs before this current bass. I think this BSX has the most acoustic response, 'real' tone and presence and familiar playability of any of them, and more so when strung with Velvet Anima strings. But that's keeping in mind that no EUB in my experience can truly nail the real thing.

Either way, it's gotten me through on a lot of gigs in the last year or so that I've owned/gigged it, and more than that it ultimately inspired me to get a 5 String URB made by Upton Bass. With that bass due any week now, it's time to pass this one along to another player.

I catalogued all the very minor dings and light scratching there is on this bass, but all in all it was babied while I had it, and I received it new from Dino at BSX after waiting 5 weeks or so for it. The Velvet strings, with their even tension of 25kg on all strings including the mammoth-sounding Low B, really make this bass come alive IMO. Sure they're terrible under the bow to my ears (but then again I"M terrible under the bow), but their gut-like bounce/spread to the notes coupled with their clarity is a nice match. The Helicore Low B string that came with this bass was just downright terrible, with no workable tension/pitch clarity, but this Velvet B is amazing. You can get some pipe-organ type tones on it, and with the action a bit higher you can lay into it for walking lines with no compensation of technique. Just dig in.

I'll be sure to post up a few live recordings I've done with this wonderful instrument, but for now here's some pics!!!

$2000 takes it, and I'd greatly prefer a semi-local deal on this one. I COULD ship it safely in the gig bag, as it came to me, but would rather not if possible. I would drive as far as the following cities to meet someone: Amarillo/Wichita/St Louis/Dallas (maybe Houston if need be)/Ft Smith/Little Rock.

If I do ship it, buyer would pay shipping.

Comes with a stand that I originally picked up from Bob Gollihur for my Eminence EUB as well as the Gig Bag.

Thanks for looking, and more to come!!!
