| That bass looks EXACTLY like my unidentified German ply. Just the neck looks different, mine is flamed.
These are really great basses when they're set up well. Mine sounds huge, I imagine yours does too.
EDIT:
Mine has the same screw and all! Except my endpin is totally dying - need to get it replaced. My bass has a school number scrawled on it as well, but on the right shoulder - 1017. From what I've been told, these basses were made in Western Germany circa 1946-60, were shipped to Pennsylvania as school basses, and then went out into the world. Although, by your tag, this info may be invalid for both of our basses. Unfortunately, my bass seemed to have 3 or 4 tags in it, and then had them scratched off. Mine just says 'Made in Western Germany' now.
Whoever buys this bass is buying a real treasure.
