*SOLD* Carved German Flatback Circa 1900

3/4 German Flatback made between 1895 and 1910 by G. A. Pfretzschner. It has maple sides and back with a spruce top. The nut, fingerboard and tail piece are ebony. There are several repairs including a split back that were done before I bought the bass in 1976. It has a 41 1/2inch scale. This was my primary bass for 25 years but now it's time to sell it. Asking $4000 and will deliver it anywhere in Florida. Lots of pictures available on request

Must be the sunlight. In every picture of a bass where there is a lawn and bright sunshine in the background that I have seen, the bass looks absolutely fantastic. No difference here.

Thanks for the comments. I tried to find another picture that was taken inside and this is all I had. I took all the others outside for the best light.

It still looks pretty.

But, c'mon... you can't post that pic without commenting on the one on the left!

Also... is the bow included?

That''s a 1937 Regal Basso-Guitar. It's listed on here also for $1600. It's one of those things that just makes people smile when you bring in on stage. Sounds really good, it just doesn't have that bottom boom of the DB. It's time to let someone else have fun with it. They only made them for a year or so.

Yes the bows (2) go with it.

If Marcus doesn't take the bow, I'll take it along with a quiver of arrows for anyone that tells the flute joke while i'm on the subway.

That's not the bassoguitar I sold on ebay last year, is it? I think I sold it to a guy in Florida, and I shipped it Greyhound!
Fun instrument. I would shove a sweatshirt inside and tape cardboard to the back to keep it from feeding back at loud gigs!
They have inlaid position markers.
Funny, I also have an old German Flatback. (5/8, though)

No I've had this one for about 12 years. I had the fingerboard replaced when I got it because it was in pretty bad shape. I really was more interested in playing it than restoring it so I replaced it without the markers.

I used a Fishman transducer with the mini-mic and ran it through a Fishman Bass Blender and that works great. If I used it acoustically I would usually use an AKG D-112 kick drum mic, and never had a feedback problem.

And by the way,, the bow on the wall uses way, way, way, too much rosin, and you keep hooking the guitar players right leg when you use it,,,,,, but with practice you might like it.
