Eastman double bass for sale in Minneapolis, MN. This bass is about 10 years old, and I've had it since it was new. It is unlabeled, but I believe it is a model 605. This bass sounds excellent and plays very smoothly. I'm asking
$4900.
Quick facts:
-high quality ebony fingerboard and tailpiece
-solid spruce top (with nice figure) and flamed maple sides
-solid poplar flatback
-very nice and light custom C extension by Scott Jensen of Quinn violins
-projects well, has a mature, loud and somewhat dark tone
-light carbon fiber endpin
There are many unique good things about this bass. First, earlier in its life it was opened up and had new back braces made by master luthier Randy DeBey. Because of this it seems to be very stable. Luthier Scott Jensen has also done some reworking of the shape of the neck to make it much more comfortable than the usual Eastman neck. Scott has also made for it a custom C extension, and this bass really growls on the low C. It has also been inspected very recently and given a setup adjustment and clean bill of health by Scott.
I regret having to sell it, but I have now put a lot of money into restoring an antique German bass and I can't afford to keep them both. PM with questions; come over and play it!
