I have a flatback carved bass possibly German No label inside. Has several repaired cracks on the sides and the top. It's an old high school bass that languished in a warehouse for awhile.

Currently strung with Helicores and a new bridge. The bassbar and braces seem to be solid at this time. The bass has a lot of character. I have more pics I can send to anyone interested. $900 plus shipping.

Do you have more pics you can send? Also, do know any information such as the age or anything?

How would you describe the sound? Would it be good for pizz? Looks like it has character. Is it playable as is? More information and more pics would be welcome.

Pics and more possible background.

Heyall,

After some reading in the other sections of this forum, it's possible the bass may be a czech or German model. I hear hat peg tuners were used through the 60's so that may be a way to date the bass. The back of the bass is in great shape no cracks and linen and glue were used to repair the other cracks on the sides and top. No label inside the bass that I can see. The bass is playable. At some point, more maintenance will be in order due to the age and weathe considerations. I will get some more pics posted asap.

Flatback bass has a plywood back.

To anyone interested in the flatback I should note it does have a plywood back. The top and sides are carved hence the repaired cracks. The scale is about 42" Sound is good for arco and pizzicato. I've had one jazz guy and one classical guy play this and I am blown away by the quality of the sound. I'd keep this if I didn't already have a good bass. Any questions can be sent to me at:
