*SOLD* FS - 1938-39 King Mortone

I have a 1938-39 King Mortone bass, with stand which I bought back in 1988. The serial number is 1465.

The bass needs a little work; it needs a proper bridge, the one on it was way too high, so I had reshaped it a bit, and it has since warped. I have the strings slacked now.

The seam needs re-gluing on the front lower left bout on one side.
The neck appears to have been repaired, but is otherwise sturdy and straight. There also seems to be some kind of repair to the top near the shoulder.
The tuners work, but one key was stuck back on with what appears to be bondo and tape. It has old steel strings of unknown origin, which work, but I'm sure it could use a new set. It has a nice loud warm tone. The bass has been sitting on a stand in my bedroom for the last 10 years. I was planning on getting it restored, but haven't gotten around to it. I hate to see her go, but I think she can use a new home, and at the moment I can use the cash.

I'm located in Northern NJ.

$800 or best offer. Local would be better unless you want to arrange to have it shipped.

Hello,
Are you willing/able to drive? I live near Albany, but could be talked into meeting you halfway.

Unfortunately no. It's my wife's car, and the bass wouldn't fit in it anyway. And that's a long, long way from me!
