*SOLD* FS: D'Addario/NS "Traditonal" EUB string set

SOLD SOLD SOLD

I just purchased these strings for my CR4M. I've had them on for a week, played them for a total of about 5 hours and took them off. They just aren't doing it for me, and they don't have the sound/feel I'm after. They make the instrument sound like a traditonal DB, and as crazy as it is, I don't really want that specific sound (dark and full sounding).

They sell for a little over $100, and I'm looking to sell/ship them for $70.

Here are the specs from NS:

The NS Electric line has been conceived jointly by Ned Steinberger and D’Addario. Because volume is unlimited for electric instruments, NS Electric line focuses on tone and expressive nuance rather than acoustic power. It brings out the richest tone from any electric instrument, and work well for acoustic instruments when subtlety of expression is paramount.

NS Strings are mostly made with stranded steel cores wrapped with aluminum, brass, tungsten, nickel, and stainless steel. The line is aimed for

• standard electric bowed instruments (violin, viola, and cello)

• electric upright basses using NS Standard Double Bass string length

• any standard Bass Guitar and NS Omni Bass, to provide an upright bass sound (warmer)

The Traditional Double Bass set is constructed and tensioned similarly to acoustic bass strings, for a warm tone, feel, and great bowed response. The Contemporary Double Bass set produces a brighter sound, and is lower tension. All NS Double Bass strings are designed to fit NS Double Basses and NSDB-Standard instruments : 46.5” wound length, 54” overall string length.

Thanks for reading,
Pat

Do I hear $70 shipped?

These will fit the Ergo basses as well.

Hi,

I haven't heard much, if anything, about these strings until now. I understand you to be saying that these are different strings from what originally comes on NS basses? And All Hail Bob doesn't carry these?

I am interested in the warm sound you're talking about, since I find even duller strings like the Corellis to be too live on my WAV 4. But I'm concerned about width and the difficulty of getting the strings properly into the tuning pegs. Lighter strings seem to work better.

Hey Fred,

I'm not sure about their availability from All Hail Bob, but these are a very different set of strings from what comes stock on the NS basses.

I didn't have any issues getting the strings into the tuning pegs. They are ticker than the stock NS strings, so you just have to be mindful of how much "extra" string gets wound around the peg. I know there are differences in the tuning machines between the WAV and the CR4M, but I don't believe it would be radically different. NS designed the strings with D'addario, and they fit my bass just fine in all of the places where it could get tough (tuning pegs, nut, bridge).

Based on my experience, these are definitely darker than Corellis (which to my hands/ears are very light and pretty bright), and the tension is also greater. They "feel" tighter under the right hand when you're playing. Hope this helps a bit.
