*SOLD* FS: SF Bay Area - Tololoche Mariachi Bass -- $250

Bought this on a whim. Its a "Tololoche." Used by wandering Mariachi in Tejano music. About the size of a 1/2 upright. It was handmade in Mexico. Carved neck with a painted veneer top -- fairly lightweight so you can stroll from bar to bar. Its sturdy, though not really what I would call a luthier made instrument. Its rough construction. But sounds pretty good.
Tuned A,D,G,C.

Just looking to recover what I have in it. $250 local San Francisco sale only.

That's a cool little bass! If I was closer I would take that off your hands

Funny I was thinking of buying one in Mexico next year when we attend a wedding.

No. I actually bought it on Craigslist. Now, the bassist I bought it from did buy it in Mexico -- from a Mariachi at a wedding -- and drove it to California on the roof of his car! Still had duct tape marks on it when I got it from where he stapped it down. I cleaned it up, made a new bridge that better fit the slim neck and re-strung her. She really is a fun little bass. If I was going to keep her, I would probably plane the fingerboard. But for the heavy plucking they do in Tejano music, it really does not make any difference.

Someone will enjoy this little thing. Only $250 people.
