This roadworn veteran has served me well the past year, but I need to part with her as my old Kay is getting jealous. The bass was built by Hans Pfandner in Germany -- best guess by my luthier was 1950s though it could be a late 1940s bass.
It's nice and loud strung with steels, and with guts (as it's currently strung) it gets the Sun Records clicky slap down pat. Here's
a link to a little video of the bass made in January 2010 in my living room with a Flip camera, no eq or effects. Pardon the sloppy playing, please.
The bass is not clean -- but it's a barroom beauty. If you like the character of a bass to show, then you'll love this scarred but proud little 3/4 doghouse.
New adjustable bridge and endpin installed by luthier Steve Wise in Austin last June. Write me for more pics or with questions.
I'm asking $1800 (with the original canvas gigbag) and I'll throw in the Underwood pickup for $1500. I am willing to drive up to four hours (Dallas/Houston/Corpus Christi) to meet you for a solid deal. The ONLY trades I am interested in are: (1) a good set of electronic drums for my nephew, (2) a Vox Sidewinder bass in good condition, or (3) a verifiable 1960's Fender P or J (some mods ok). Thanks a ton, and groove on!
