I have a bass back home in San Diego that's taking up space in my parents house. I live in Boston and have a bass here now, so I am letting go my GA Pfretzschner laminate roundback that's presumably from the 1950's/60's (based on the label of a music store that predates zip codes).
The bass is pretty much a shell, and needs some work. But I figured I'd offer it to a TB'r for less than half of what I paid and they can put some time and money into it and get a solid bass with their specs for under $1500.
It doesn't have strings or a bridge, also the tailpiece and endpin that come with it has should be replaced. That plus a setup and maybe a pickup and it will be ready to go. My dad is willing to take it to a luthier (Hammond Ashley, Lemur, etc.) to get a quote to get it back to go health, or you can come by the house located in Carlsbad to check it out. I want whoever buys this bass to feel good about it.
It's a great bass that served me well as my first. It's got a dark, warm sound and is pretty loud for a ply. I think it would make a killer jazzer with some spiro's and a pickup.
The price is somewhat negotiable, but I don't want to give it away. I think $700 local sale is a great price, and leaves a lot of room for parts and setup.
It comes with a standard Kaces cover and a stand.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions, thanks!

Here are some pics of the bass when I had it up and running.
