Here's another pic and a link to what these machines may be:

Additionally, there is a chart with the lengths of total cog, just the barrel, and the diameter of each

machines

So each one is different? Is the length from cog to end of shaft supposed to be width of pegbox from outside to outside?

Also, does the rubber band mean that there is a rattle?

I am trying to find something for my Prescott, which very poor 20th century machines.

Thanks

Yes, I never actually knew until I just measured them today that there are four separate lengths.

I'm not 100% sure (TB folks, can you help?) but my guess would be to take the measurement of the shaft itself (the smaller number) and measure the INSIDE of the pegbox, HOLE TO HOLE.

Remember that the cog itself and the "screw" at the end of the shaft actually sit outside of the pegbox.

There -was- a rattle years ago but someone at Gage fixed that and it's never returned since. One of the keys was a little loose.

I hope this is some help. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, I've actually never done these measurements before.

All the best
Matt
