This fully-carved 2004 bass has a large body and a strong sound, with full upper and lower bouts. The Contrabass Shoppe gives a detailed description of a sister Model L’Ancienne at
http://www.contrabass.co.uk/2733.htm. This has been my primary bass since I purchased it new. Big resonant voice for pizz and under the bow. I consistently receive rave reviews about its sound in bluegrass and folk settings. I believe that Jay Haide basses are manufactured in China, but there is nothing weak about the workmanship or sound of this instrument. Upgraded at Upton Bass in 2006 with Upton adjustable bridge, new tailpiece, and Revolution Solo pickup. Evah Pirazzis strings. Includes case.
