I am selling my KAY string bass model M-1. This is the famous “workhorse” for bass players since the late 40’s. This bass was made in the 1960’s and is in excellent condition. There are no cracks and it only has the normal amounts of wear and tear that you might expect from a 40-50 year old instrument that has been played.
This string bass has been “optimized” for a bass guitar player that doubles on string bass. It was done by Andrew at “The String Shop” in Tempe. The edges of the neck (where you would be bracing your right hand in playing position) have been beveled and smoothed. The action is low and pearl inlaid dots have been placed on the edge of the neck where the major fret placements would be (3rd fret, 5th fret, etc.) The bass bar (internal) has been replaced and optimized to give a big and open sound and it has new strings.
