*SOLD* Mesa D-180 w/graphic eq - Classic!

Price Drop! now asking $625 (10/2/07) *Sold*

Up for sale, Mesa D-180 w/graphic eq in very good + condition. Virtually unused since around '93. Retubed and rebiased with Ruby tubes about 5 yrs ago and it's been on the shelf ever since. I am the original owner. Although the panels say 1982, it was purchased in '83 when the graphic eq first became available, serial D104. It has been maintained meticulously. I'm an electronic tech by trade and it is in 100% working condition with out any issues.

Entirely hand built, all tube (with exception of the graphic). Conservatively rated at 180 watts rms, iirc it measured around 225 w before any noticeable distortion (into 4 ohms). Unlike solid state amplifiers, this unit delivers full power at 4 or 8 ohms, and when pushed into distortion, sounds smooth and creamy instead of clipping obnoxiously like transistor amps rated at 500 watts or more.

The sound is like old school on steroids, it is absolutely one of the punchiest, full bodied tone machines produced that I've had the pleasure to play through.

"Even when compared with the gigantic SVT tube amplifier, the D-180 sounds louder, clearer, warmer, punchier and better balanced tonally." (from Mesa's literature).

I hate to part with it, but I am funding an urb amp rig and I'm tired of schlepping this beautiful beast around these days.

$725 weighs about 38-40 lbs

Thank you, Glen

6L6's, also modified from the original fixed to adjustable bias so a a larger variety of tube makers can be used (best to use a single brand for all 6 outputs for fewer problems, and matched for best performance).

My typo should read: "Unlike solid state amplifiers, this unit delivers full power at 4 or 8 ohms, and when pushed into distortion, sounds smooth and creamy instead of clipping obnoxiously like transistor amps rated at 500 watts or more."

Correction (my lousy memory): it was actually retubed 10 yrs ago and virtually unused since.

Also includes a "spares kit" for emergency road repairs (from Mesa).

Price Dropped! now asking $625

One of these sold for $750 on ebay recently and mine's even cleaner.

Also, I would consider a horse trade deal. . . . . looking for a Euphonic Audio Wizzy 10".

I just got two Wizzy 10's, and have no plans on getting rid of them, but if anything else in my profile trips your trigger, I wouldn't mind picking up another D-180.
