*SOLD* New Shadow Pick-up, $120

Shadow SH 965 NFX Bass Pick-Up. Twin elements and includes the pre-amp which mounts between bridge and tailpiece. The pre-amp features handy volume and tone controls. Sounds very good on the right bass, both pizz and arco!
Like new, bought just last fall and used only one night, Sounded great on my Hybrid Shen, not as good on my Czech-Ease so I put it away in it's original packaging. Just bought a brand new Wilson (big money!)for the Czech-Ease so it's time to sell of stuff I'm not using to get caught up!
$150 USD

I like the Wilson a lot because it's dry and provides a lot of "string sound". But it cost my a bundle! It's very good for getting that "NHOP" tone.
The Shadow is more like "The Realist" but the highs are a bit more "glassy" sounding and the deep bass is a bit "tighter". I guess it's pre-amp accounts for that. It sounded real good on the carved-top bass I tried it on. Not as good on my small bodied, plywood Czech-Ease. On the carved top bass, the arco sound was very impressive. I'd keep Shadow if not for the fact that I travel all the time, and the Czech-Ease, now that it's got the Wilson and it's Realist too gives me an amplified tone for jazz that works for me.

Shadow Pickup, Price reduction + Rev Solo 1

OK, I'm leaving town again real soon and will not be using this fine and almost unused pickup. New price, only $120 shipped in US. In brand new condition, like new in box.

Also, Upton Revolution Solo 1, sanded to fit bridge wing originally filed for Underwood. Otherwise original condition, light use, no abuse. $40.

Both fine products, but I'm totally into the Wilson sound at the moment and can't see using either of these anytime in the foreseeable future.

Nice to see your name again. I hope all is good with you.
Can you tell me if the Shadow sounds like the Underwood
pickup, or is there a good amount of difference between
the two?

Mike,
I am looking for a pickup with a lot of output. Does the shadow have more output than an underwood?

B String,

Bruce, the Shadow sounds more like a Realist than an Underwood, but because it's got twin elements it does bring a bit more presence to the D and G strings, like the Underwood does.

Joel, I found not a lot of difference between the output of the Shadow and the Underwood. I'm not an electronics expert but it seemed to put out about the same amount of volume as my Underwood did, when the gain control and master volume control on my Clarus amp was set in about the same places. But the results were a somewhat "bigger" sound, since the front end of the amp gets a signal that is after the pickup's pre-amp, and the pickup give more of the bass's body sound, due to it's placement under the bridge feet.
