My expensive experiment with wrapped gut strings is over, and I’m MUCH happier with my set of Animas on my BSX EUB. Picked these up last month from Chris at Quinn Violins (GREAT guy, awesome store) and after about 4 gigs on them they’re just not my thing. A normal set of 4 string Olivs is $486.10 from Chris, and the special order wrapped gut B string for this set was a whopping $206.28!!!
The ONLY downside of these strings for me is that I had to set them VERY high to get the tone/feel that I’m accustomed to. Especially on the B string. With high action, the Low B speaks well and with good pitch clarity, but not nearly as well as does the Anima B with medium action.
Now, I know that I’m going to get offers to buy these strings individually, most likely the D and G which are more popular when mixing sets, but for now I’d like to offer these as a set ONLY. No trades please, and I’d like to get
