*SOLD* Shen SB150 3/4 Hybrid

Shen SB150 Hybrid
The History:
Bass was originally sold by Monaco’s Violin Shop, Amherst, NY in July 09 to a bass guitar player whom wanted to learn upright (I have a copy of the Original Sales Receipt which will go with the bass if desired). It sat unplayed and we acquired the bass through Craigslist in April 2010.

Upon our acquisition this SB150 was taken directly to Nick Lloyd for his full set up including end pin upgrade, saddle adjustment, sound post, bridge, fingerboard, etc. and is drilled (by Nick) for a Laborie end pin. This was my son’s (13 years old) main bass from June 2010 to Dec 2010 when he upgraded from a ½ size. Since Christmas 2010 this has been his back up bass as we acquired an SB300 which has become his primary instrument.

We are selling only as we have committed to the purchase of the SB180 with the C extension listed in another post here by PruneFace (http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f144/s...ension-745942/ ) which will allow my son to build his skill and experience level with the addition of the extension.

This SB150 has received many accolades for tone and playability from instructors during sessions at the George Vance/Rabbath workshop in 2010 and numerous staff and guest players through my son’s work with the Columbus Youth Symphony Orchestra. Many have stopped playing this bass to look two or three times at the Shen logo as it is far more bass than they expected when picking it up to play (that may be a plug for Shen & CSC however is very true, and we have been exceptionally pleased with the Shen instruments we own).

Currently strung with Belcantos, we have a new Evah Pirazzi Welch set which we would be happy to swap out if desired by the buyer. In perfect condition, it is a bass and if you look hard enough you will find a very few light surface scratches. I believe however the pictures speak as to the condition.

Specifics:
Carved Spruce top with inlaid purfling
Maple veneer back and ribs
Oil varnish
String length: 41 1/4"
Upper bout: 20 "
C-bout: 14.75"
Lower bout: 26.25"

$2,000 and will include a standard Shen bag which has seen very little use
or
$2,200 with Bobelock bag.
In the interest of full disclosure I do not yet have the Bobelock bag, it is coming with the SB180 however PruneFace assures me it is in perfect shape and I have no reason to assume otherwise.

We are located in the Columbus, Ohio area and are willing to meet ½ way up to +/- 175 miles for a serious buyer (if we can find a Starbucks to meet I will buy the coffee ). Shipping is possible at buyer’s expense. We have an SBS flight case which could be used for shipping. If desired refundable deposit and cost of return to be paid by the buyer would be required.

Thank you for your interest, should you have any questions please feel free to PM us. We will do our very best to be respond quickly and accurately.
