*SOLD* Thomastic Weichs....

I have a set of Weichs I put on hoping the lighter gauge would relieve a little hand pain from arthritis. Had them on about a week, just didn't sound good on my bass. Paid $170.00, I'd sell them for $100.00 plus postage. They are uncut of course, my bass is 42" scale, so they should work on most modern instruments.

Strings

I see that you quickly sold the strings, and I'm not suprised! I have used them for many years and loved the sound I got with them on my bass. I'm suprised that they didn't work for you.
Anyway, I decided to try and move away from them and found what I think is a much softer string. They may help your situation, because they are a non-metallic core string.
I suggest that you look into the Innovatiuon brand strings. I have been using the 140H (honey) set for about a year and am very pleased with their sound and responce. And, they're physically softer than the steel core strings.

Sold....

Thanks Jon, the strings are sold. It was a good deal for Molly and their bass refurbishing, and a lesson learned for me. I appreciate your comments, I have tried a couple other strings with synthetic cores, though not the Innovations as you suggested. I've used the Spiro's for a long time and they sound great on my bass, and as I am not a classical player and don't spend that much gig time with the bow, I've stayed with the Spiro's. I had some expensive bad luck with synthetic core strings breaking at the bridge, so I'm a bit gun-shy about them. But thanks for your response.
