it looks funny but i've just been playing with one element hanging off of the bridge. works just fine. It'd be cool if the single element version was cheaper though!

Yeah, it's a pain to make sure the unused element is not gonna bang against something, plus I'm sure a single element would be cheaper. Maybe they're afraid it'll hurt the sale of the two element version.
