| *SOLD* Upright Bass for Sale, Central VA My first post here...hope it meets all criteria and is not too long.
This is a plywood bass I bought used about 4 years ago for $850. I use it strictly for bluegrass. I don't even own a bow. I don't know what year it was made.
There is a label in the bass with the name "Leon Albert" and a serial number but I have not been able to find any additional information on the builder via the internet. I was told by the man I bought it from that it is probably European made but sold by a retailer in the U.S.
I recently had the sound post reset, added an adjustable bridge and new strings and purchased a heavy duty travel bag that conveys with the instrument. The bass has fine tone but is not as loud as a Kay or Englehardt. I have the bridge set quite low so the action is easy but this also affects the volume.
This instrument is presently strung with LaBella Supernil Nylon Double Bass Strings. These string have a nylon core, thick diameter and loose tension.
I have recently bought a new bass and wish to sell this instrument.
The bass is in good condition with some finish checks and dings. The back is in good shape but there is some finish wear on the head and where the cable comes over the bottom of the instrument. I re-glued the small piece of wood that bears the weight of this cable and did not do a very good job. This can easily be repaired if it bothers you.
