*SOLD* W.Woods "The Sweeper" -$1350 shipped

Hi guys

I've got a Walter Woods MI series amp called "The Sweeper" that I unfortunately need to sell. I'm asking $1350 shipped CONUS, paypal OK.

-225W at 8ohms/channel
-350W at 4ohms/channel
-700W bridged at 8ohms only
-2 XLRs
-Ch 1 and 2 can be run simultaneously or individually
-"Sweepable" (ie adjustable) Low pass filter on Ch1; High pass filter on Ch2.
-Includes a padded Pelican hard case
-Includes all original paperwork
-Includes special bridging cable

The amp functions perfectly and sounds great. I'll put some pics up tonight.

I believe the model number is MI-225-8 but I'll need to see pictures to confirm that.

Basically here's all the possible speaker hook up schemes:

-275W/8ohms either channel driven individually
-450W/4ohms either channel driven individually
-225W/8ohms both channels driven simultaneously
-350W/4ohms both channels driven simultaneously
-700W/8ohms bridged

So you could run four 8ohms cabs (two from each channel) and get 700W total, with each cabinet getting 175W.

The weight of the amplifier is 7.5 pounds

The size is 3.5 in x 12.25 in x 8.5 in

On the original catalog, which is included here, the model is listed as the MI 200-8 series.

I actually called Walter last week to see if he thought it would be necessary to inspect the amp before I sold it and he basically said 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.

Also, there is a dual voltage switch for international operation.

I don't think that's an MI-200. The red top and bottom mean that amp will run in true stereo, and I don't remember hearing of a stereo MI-200. I suppose it's possible but the output values seem wrong for anything but a 225, which had two bridged power supplies. Pull the top plate off and look for a date of manufacture stamped into the chassis. My guess is mid-90s. Whatever it is, the dual XLRs (with defeat switches? What are those on the upper right?) make it a rare amp.

"MI 200-8" is clearly printed on the of the amp. I believe it's from 1993 (or earlier).

The switches on the top right are "Bridged/Stereo" and "Lift/Ground". I'm not sure what you mean by "Defeat switches".

The knobs and switches just to the left of the XLRs are sweepable high and low pass filters, with high pass for channel one and low pass for channel two.

Someone asked via PM if you can run both outputs from a single preamp (either the first or second channel) and the answer is yes.

Hey Guys

I need to hold onto this a little longer before I let 'er go. I'm going to close the thread for now, but I may re-open in the coming months. I apologize to potential buyers. I'll keep y'all in the loop.

Thanks

Did Walter mention if was able to fix this amp if it broke? I know there are some models that he can't get parts for anymore.

I hadn't heard anything about that. These amps are known for their sound and their reliability, but I'll look into it.

Ok, so I think that only applies to the 225 series, but I will call Walter today and ask him specifically about it.

Straight from the horses mouth

So, I called Walter at 4:35pm Eastern time today and left him a message saying there was concern that he didn't have replacement parts for some of his amps.

He responded at 5:02 and he was pissed.

He has a message for anyone who's saying he doesn't have parts for certain makes/models of his amps:

Stop perpetuating the ********

(his words, not mine)

He said that he has ample supply to replace any part and service any amp he's made over the last 40 years.

He wanted contact info for the person who started the rumor, which of course I don't have.

So thanks guys, for getting Walter pissed!
