*TRADED* FT: RS II for Realist

I have a brand new Revolution Solo II pick up and I would like one of the new model Realist.
I heard a lot of complaints about the new Realist, but I am one of the few that happen to like it.
My RS II is brand new, I have not filed the pick up for installation. Instead I filed the bridge wing on my bass!
Anyway, I like having both basses equipped with the same gear, so being that the new Realist is doing well on my main bass, I would like to have it on my second bass as well.
I made a square mark on the pick up with a pen to mark the best position, but it's brand new, and BTW you will have to file that down to fit the pick up anyway.
Thank you.

I just checked on price for the RS II and the Realist. if you are interested I can give you the pick up and some money on the trade to pay for the difference in price.
thank you.

i see that you specifically called out a 'new realist,' but i have an older model that i'd be interested in trading, if that's of interest to you. it's from 2000 or 2001.

Hi Sean,
I had one about that old as well. Mine was kind of dead, and was getting really boomy and all the high end was pretty shot. I got a new one and I love the sound, so my intention was to have both basses match in sound! (or be close! lol!)
My RS II is new and it has not being altered as I described. Would you consider a straight trade?
thank you.

If you don't mind, how is the newer model of Realist different than the other in terms of sound? If it's brighter and more detailed than the older version, I might just jump on it.

It is brighter and I think it might have more output. It's not so boomy as the old one I used to have. i haven't had any feedback problems with it so far. it's easier to find an EQ.
with that in mind, I got an old one used. and to my surprise although much darker than the new one at does sound great on my 7/8 flatback romanian bass.
I have the new realist on a 3/4 round back fully carved bass. and I sounds great a lot like the bass itself.
I have the old realist on the 7/8, and again it sounds a lot like the bass.
I wouldn't wanna trade the pick ups from the basses, because they seem to be the perfect marriage for both instruments.
I used to have a RS II because I played a bass that had one, and the natural sound was amazing. Although the RSII did not sound that way in either one of my basses!
well, basically I am sure that none of that helps you at all, and I guess that, that is exactly my point.
I think that you have to try a few pick ups by yourself, hopefully the forum helps you choose a certain direction. but truly when it comes to double bass every thing is so personal, and I mean EVERYTHING! lol that you just have to try for yourself.
I feel lucky, I don't wish to change anything on my basses, and that goes for strings too! (which is another trip!)
so good luck!
