1920's German 7/8 for sale $7500 - So Cal

Excellent German Bass circa 1920, Violin corners , 7/8 size with 43 1/2" string length. Fantastic sound for both jazz and orchestral work- this bass has amazing volume and projection, even throughout the registers and comfortable to play. Nice full sound without any "edginess" to the sound.
Structurally the body is very sound, cosmetically has some wear but is ready to be played. Recent work includes a fingerboard and bridge, bass has always been carefully maintained. Scroll was reglued at some point, not the neatest work but is very strong. I have used this bass on all manner or gigs, theater, studio, and arco and it always does the job. It's received complements from Rufus Reid, John Clayton and Ray Brown ! $7500 or best offer, I need to sell soon as my transmission just went out on my car- ouch!. Call with questions 858) 336-6082, Rob

Has this ever been used in an orchestral situation? I'm in the market for a new orchestra bass and was wondering about the bow response and even-ness of the strings.

Also, why is this being sold?
