Recently restored by Mark Sonksen; has a new endpin, ebony fingerboard, and new bridge.
Comes with Mooradian standard padded bag.
Bass is in excellent condition, with minor wear around the edges.
This is one of the nicest Kays I’ve played.
Appraised at $4875…asking $4100.
Will take reasonable offers.

Kays seems to go for considerably less in the mid-West . . . ???

I think Jack got this bass in Chicago and is asking about the same thing he paid for it (is that correct, Jack?). There's a difference between Chicago/Indianapolis and the general Small-Town Midwest. |

Ooh- Kay . . . thank you, Jake, me too, as I share a similar perspective of THE Mid-West from way down South on the Mexican Border as well as from the mid-Atlantic area . . . besides it was only an observation for whatever it may or may not be worth . . . I'll now just return to from whence I came

I picked this bass up in Chicago last year to be my VERY 1st second bass...then Nick Lloyd laid a very sweet NS Hybrid on me...
I CAN'T have three basses in my tiny apartment...
I'm just trying to get what I paid for it...but might accept a more "mid-western" type offer?
...whatever that means...
FWIW, I'm also unclear about the "Mid-West designation"...a little ways down I-65...cross the Ohio River...you're in the South...
go figure |

I always thought that someone had refinished it at some point, but if the M4 on here has the original finish, mine is probably original as well. When I got mine, the neck had to be replaced. I still remember what the original neck looked like, and it had the exact same kind of tuners as this M4.
And yeah, I'm not sure if older Kays like these usually go for more, but it does seem a bit much. |
