| 1953 Kay model H-10 1/4 size Bass I need to sell my Kay. This bass has an approx 35" speaking length from nut to bridge. The bass is very solid and has a surprisingly big sound for its' size. It was designed to play in the standard bass register. It is NOT one of the ones that was designed for a higher tuning. This does not mean that you couldn't set it up to play higher easily but that it is capable of good low end response. The endpin block was repaired about 10-15 years ago and some regluing done at that time by Boston String Instruments. Everything has held up well since. The neck has never been damaged.
While the bass is solid, it does need some setup especially WRT the bridge. The action is high for styles other than bluegrass. The tailpiece (original with 'KAY' script) has had a crack for the last 17 years that I never got around to fixing... The bass comes with a DeArmond pickup that likely dates from the '50 to early '60s.
$750 or best offer - pickup in Boston area - Electric or EUB trades may be considered. I'll drop the price to $700 for local pickup only and still willing to entertain local trades up and down. SOLD via Craigslist
Peace,
S
