1983 (Serial Number 0135) Clevinger 4 string electric upright bass. String length 41.5", same as 3/4 upright. Body is original keyhole shape solid walnut stained poplar, neck is maple with glassy ebony fingerboard. Currently strung with Thomastik Spirocore – Orchestra Strings and recently set-up w/nice low action.
Has original patent applied for piezo adjustable bridge and Bartolini special design magnetic pickups. Bartolini electronics include volume, bass, treble with bass boost for magnetic pickup and three way toggle to select either piezo bridge pick-up, magnetic pick-up or both. Has original Reunion Blues heavy duty padded gig-bag with Clevinger logo, right side curved body bout and heavy duty adjustable end pin assembly. Also included is a Clevinger chrome plated stand and XL black tee shirts with orange Clevinger logo on them if I can find them. I promise my wife will wash them first!!!
Bass sounds awesome. I've used it live and recorded with it. Has full robust sound, and it sounds pretty close to an amplified upright. Sounds good bowed also. Because it is solid body and has magnetic pick-ups selection, it can be played at loud volumes without feedback.
The re-issue version of this instrument that Clevinger is currently offering is going for $3600, and still does not have all the features of the original i.e. the bartolini electronics and magnetic pick-ups for high volume playing w/o feedback.
I’m asking $1800 OBO shipped 48 states.
