I have a wonderful sounding gamba shaped Chech bass that is around 100 years old and underwent a full restoration about 4 years ago. I use this bass for studio work only. I have it conservatively appraised at $5,500.
I would like to find an instrument that has more sloped shoulders for easier thumb position access. I also do not want an older/expensive instrument because I want something that I can do gigs with and not sweat it so much.
I live in Atlanta. I tour about half the year around the US so if there was something of interest out there I do have a way to deliver a bass myself/pick one up.
To hear what the bass sounds like I have some audio clips here:

"Early to Rise"
"Big Machine"
"Rule the World"
