3/4 fully-carved German round-back $7k (San Diego)

Up for sale is a 3/4-size, round-back fully-carved double bass, made in 2001 by Peter Holzmann.

D-neck
string length: 40.75 inches (103.5 cm)
upper-bout (widest): 19.5 inches
lower-bout (widest): 25.25 inches
C-bout (narrowest): 13.75 inches
rib-depth: 8.75 inches
rib-depth at neck heel: 6.75 inches
body length (back) 43.25 inches

Currently setup with a unique "baroque-style" bridge and ebony height adjusters. Velvet strings and tailpiece wire. Götz endin. The tuning machines feature a stunning black-on-brass decoration.

This is really a beautiful instrument! I've played it professionally for the last five years. I've always gotten positive feedback on this instrument's sound in both classical and jazz settings.

There are a few cosmetic dings (some belt-buckle marks on the back, a few French bow nicks on the top, a few door-jams on the bottom bout...but these are minimal, nothing out of the ordinary).

This bass was professionally appraised at $12,000 in 2003 (I can provide documentation, of course).

Included is a Mooradian padded gig bag, though it's not in the greatest shape.

I'm not really in any position to ship this thing, but if you have a trunk or other means, I'd be more than willing to make that work. Please feel free to ask any questions. I'm working on getting some more photos.

I am in San Diego and would welcome anyone to come and see the instrument. I'd be willing to drive as far as Salt Lake City, Sacramento, or Albuquerque to deliver the instrument.
